One Day at a Time

The staff at Clapham North tube station have a special place in my heart - or, to be more specific, the member/s of staff who take the time to research and write up daily quotes onto the white board at the top of the escalator. I wish they knew how much it brightens up my day just to read them, and how sometimes I think about them long after I've walked out of the station.

Today's quote is especially profound and makes me think, in particular, of the Buddhist way of teaching, of calmness, meditation and the need to sometimes just be still and accepting of your situation, defying the propensity life has for constant movement and change:

"One day at a time - this is enough. Do not look back and grieve over the past, for it is gone: and do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering." - Ida Scott Taylor

Today I am happy, and thanks to that quote I feel compelled to express my happiness. Life may be confusing but it is fundamentally good, and as I know I've said before (but sometimes have a tendency to get complacent about) I am surrounded by beautiful people who love me for who I am, and I hope they know that love is reciprocated tenfold.

The fact I've done some retail therapy for my forthcoming holiday to Majorca/Ibiza may also have played a small part in the cultivation of my happiness, as has an early morning bike ride and my friend's impending hen night this evening! Wembley tomorrow, wedding next weekend, then holiday - what more could a girl want? Yay, yay and thrice yay!! :-)
