Wedding Fever

Can't believe it's the eve of my best friend's wedding already - how time flies! The boys are already taking bets on how long it will be before I start crying, and I must admit at the moment I'm doubtful if we'll even make it through to tomorrow! Only this morning I was in the hairdresser reading an article about weddings and I felt all teary-eyed! But that's what I love about weddings, you can have a bloody good cry and not feel in the least bit ashamed. And surely being a bridesmaid gives me the right to get a bit emotional?!

In some ways my time at Birmingham Uni feels like an absolute age away (possibly because it was - I graduated in 2002, six years ago!!), but in others it's almost as if it were yesterday. I won't embarrass the bride to be by recounting the many funny stories involving her and alcohol during her student (or non-student to be precise, seeing as she never made it past the first year!) years, but suffice to say they were hilarious days and I miss them still. But now we're older, wiser (ahem) and moving into an entirely new phase of life - well, some of us at least, I seem to have gone the opposite way and am now taking full advantage of all the opportunities I missed during a 9 year relationship!! All I really want to say is this: Sammy Bear, I love you with all my heart darlin', and I can't think of a better man than your wonderful Ollie to love and to cherish you for the rest of your life. You deserve to be happy, and I have no doubt you will be. You're an absolute star, the best friend a girl could have. Now bring on the party!!

In other news, I just about made it through Glastonbury in one piece, though I should say it's taken its toll on both my body and my brain this week. Have had some very ropey moments that I'd rather not experience again. Still, it was worth every single moment - this year was better than ever, I met some really fantastic people and had an absolute blast. Music-wise I loved Vampire Weekend, Crowded House, Mark Ronson, Jay-Z, Panic! at the Disco, Lupe Fiasco and many more, and the Silent Disco on Thursday night (the only night when it really rained down on us) was hilarious. Also loved Shangri-La (which used to be Lost Vagueness) where we went on Sat night to see our friend Nutso dj'ing in the Jacuzzi Tent (maddest place ever - tiny tent, crammed to the rafters, so full of bouncing people the floor vibrated, and all along the side were jacuzzis with people sitting in their bikinis and drinking champagne!!) Even managed to stagger to the Stone Circle at about 6am on Sunday morning to watch the sunrise and take in the, er, 'unusual' people who hung out there! The camping was hard work, granted, but I wouldn't change a thing - not least the rather lovely 23 year old Welshman with whom I have stayed in constant contact and have now planned a trip to visit in three weeks' time!! Happy days....

So that's me for now, gotta go and get ready for the wedding! Now where did I pack those tissues....?
