Sunday Ramblings

I'm not going to lie to you, it's been a pretty heavy few days. I know this because I have spent most of today trying to peel myself off the floor and get back on a level, both emotionally and physically. Thankfully my efforts have paid off and I'm glad to report recovery (bar the rather unwelcome sore throat)is now well under way, helped in no small part by my housemate's friend offering to cook us all a roast lamb lunch with all the trimmings. Yum.

In the interests of chronicling my recent endeavours for future generations to see quite how screwed up I am/was (joke), I shall surmise them here:

1) Triathlon - Still pinching myself that it's over, to be honest. Proud of self :-)
2) Majorca - The much-deserved post-tri holiday was predictably messy, incorporating vast quantities of neat alcohol (vodka and amaretto, primarily) and flirtations with various foreign men (Spanish locals on night one, Spanish beauty pageant contestants the second, my South African annual holiday romance in Palma the third - splendid, and how life should be all the time, in my opinion)
3) Dinners with friends - another engagement celebration on Wednesday (*runs for the hills**sobs*) and a girlie catch up(/piss up) on Thursday
4) Random night in Temple - met my housemates on Friday night at Walkabout to watch the England match, but it was so full we couldn't get in, so we ended up watching it in the King's College student union. Two hours, £14 and seven snakebites later, we staggered back to Walkabout where we proceeded to dance like loons (and I met a rather charming Slovenian man who has disappointingly failed to live up to expectations) until 2am - all well and good had we not been going to Ascot the next morning..
5) Ascot - sadly it seems the organisers have let their greed get in the way of running a good event, as the Silver Ring enclosure was three times as crowded as in previous years, which really impacted on everyone's enjoyment. Being trampled underfoot by people trying to get to the tote as you're tucking into your picnic isn't anyone's idea of fun, let alone engaging in a bun fight just to get to the toilet. Shame, but based on yesterday's experience, I'm not sure I'd go back.

This week, cold permitting, I plan to get back on the exercise wagon, start making serious in-roads into next year's plan, send some more queries to agents and generally sort my life out. Having fun is all well and good, but unless it's tempered with activities that promote positive forward momentum in life, it can start to feel a bit pointless.
