I’ve been annoyingly cryptic on Twitter about recent developments due to work paranoia, but seeing as it’s not too long until I’ll be telling them anyway (takes a deep breath), here goes: I’ve booked my flights for next year! Yes, that’s right, Belle is finally putting her (parents’ - ahem) money where her mouth is and getting herself organised for the trip of a lifetime, and she cannot frickin’ wait. Itinerary is as follows:
Jan-mid April - 3 month Raleigh International placement in Borneo as the Comms Officer on its project out there, where I'll be one of 40 Volunteer Managers, or skilled volunteers over the age of 25. Note to self: Must NOT fraternise with the 17-24 year old volunteers. That would be bad. VERY bad (says the girl who copped off with a 21 year old on the assessment weekend....oops).
Mid April-mid June – A little bop around India/Nepal (might be joined by friend/s for part of this).
Mid June-mid August – Road/boat trip from Bangkok to Bali, covering Thailand, Laos, Indonesia and wherever else takes my fancy (time permitting).
Mid August-beginning Sep – Three week holiday in Oz to round things off.
Then it’ll be back in time to celebrate/commiserate my 30th at Bestival, before coming back down to earth with a bump greater than Jack and Jill on that pesky hill. But hey, all being well by then I’ll have had the time of my life and I’ll be ready to get back to forging a career. And, if not, then I’ll just pack up my troubles in my old kit bag once more, go back to the place I loved the most and take up residence there as a pot-smoking hippy with flowers in my hair and a nifty little sideline in contraband and intimate massage. SORTED.
